Movie Text End Credits Photoshop CC Tutorial

PHOTOSHOP TEXT LAYOUT FOR AWESOME VIDEO CREDITS! | Let’s learn to lay out some beautiful typography in Photoshop and export the final set of credits as a file we can animate in our video editor!

In this Photoshop tutorial, I’ll show you how I use text boxes and guide layouts in Photoshop to quickly layout a long series of video end credits that are both highly editable and will work for any project you’re working on. After we make the text layout, I’ll show you how to export a file that you can instantly import into your video NLE and add to your video project and animate across the screen.

Tutorial Recording Notes:

Disclaimer: these are the actual notes I used to record this video and are written in a language you may or may not understand. Hopefully, you find them useful or cool.

  1. Note that we will only be creating the graphic here and exporting it for use in something like Premiere or Final Cut. Link in Premiere video about animating credits as a card here.
  2. Document should be the width of your video frame. 1920, 2560, 3840, 4096, or whatever you’re working with.
  3. Go with 5000px for height (we can always extend this later.)
  4. Use Guides Layout to find center and add a 100px margin
  5. Snapping should be turned on
  6. League Spartan, Bold, 24pt, White, All Caps
  7. Build blocks of text.
  8. Secondary text: League Spartan, Bold, 16pt, White, All Caps
  9. Layout text as works best
  10. Export with black background by grouping all layers and right-click>Export As
  11. Export with transparent background by shutting off the black (show how a PNG would not export the full 1920 across.
  12. To save the width we worked with, add a layer mask to the group and we’ll get the full 1920 width we started with.
